here is a mildly amusing anecdote to show how tired i really am. yesterday afternoon my camera started making funny noises whenever i tried to use the autofocus. it kind of groaned and whined and sounded very sick in general. i was really worried that some sand had somehow gotten into the gears in the lens and had ruined it forever. it took me a full 24 hours of worry and many new attempts to focus on objects near and far to realize that the switch had somehow gotten knocked and was set on manual focus. to that i say, "huh?!" (thanks, josh.)
speaking of lenses, wanna buy a really broken one?
ok, time to watch the fab 5 and call it a night.

yesterday was matt's birthday, and he was in town hanging out with his best friend, alex. after making him a lovely birthday cake in the morning, i went over to hang out with them at alex's apartment in the afternoon. they were preparing to make sushi, which was incredibly fun. we had 2 lbs. of yellowfin tuna, some wannabe crab meat, a couple cucumbers, carrots, cream cheese, sesame seeds, and of course, rice and seaweed. alex the sushi master showed us how to roll it all up, and matt and i actually had some success with it. we ended up with three large dinner plates full of sushi rolls, and managed to actually put away two of them. it was delicious. i want to go out and buy a sushi mat and some sticky rice.
session 1 of surf camp has finished, and it was a great success. (honestly, we even had one of our littlest kids tell his mom, who in turn told us, that surf camp was "the best week of his life." how cute is that?!) after editing, i had 360 photos from the week to burn onto two CDs. i really need to come up with a streamlined way to start putting up photo links in this blog. i know, i know, i've been all talk about this. that's going to stop. (maybe.)
now it's time for a lazy sunday before i do the surf camp craziness again. this time we have two sessions back-to-back, with no days off! this week is a monday through friday day camp, followed by a saturday through thursday overnight camp. yikes.
