last weekend was really fun, mainly because i had people to hang out with. it's been pretty lonely around here, simply because i just don't know anybody yet. this saturday yin drove down, and the two of us went to meet jeff, a photographer friend of mine, at the copper penny downtown, where his friend's band was playing. it was a fun night, and i couldn't seem to stop talking... i felt like i hadn't actually had any social contact with anyone in FOREVER.
the next day yin and i drove to the beach to go surfing and ran into julian's brother james. he and alice and another of their friends were headed in the boat over to masonboro to surf, and they told us that we could come along. we all loaded up the boat, went over to the island, and decided that the surf was better by the kehayas' house. so we went back. we hung out for the rest of the day on the beach, and again i was just so glad to have people to hang out with. man, i'm such a dork.
today was my first day of work, even though i've been in wilmington for almost 2 weeks. i didn't really do much work... just went into the office and looked through the hundreds of photos that were taken during surf camps over the past couple of years to get an idea of what people have done in the past, and what i should expect. it looks pretty cool. i'm really excited about the sea turtle release, which will happen on wednesday, june 2. i have tomorrow off, then thursday and friday are training days, where i will apparently learn to surf. we'll see if they can improve on my already fabulous, injurious methods. :)
my camera is scheduled to arrive tomorrow. i've felt really nekkid without one. too bad it cost an arm and a leg.
i also dropped a couple hundred bucks today on a plane ticket to california, which will TOTALLY be worth it. i am so incredibly excited to go, not only to see julian (although that's a HUGE plus), but i've never been to california before, and i get to spend a week there! woohoo! california here i come. :)

well, today i received my first formal offer for a "real job." makes me feel like an adult... especially after buying my own health insurance on wednesday. oof. T minus 3 days until graduation.
my alexa rating is now 272,025. i think that means i'm awesome.
have to pick up em at the airport very early tomorrow, so i must go to bed.
i miss you, big spoon. :(
